It had been a while since having a Cape Cod Wedding! But when a fellow photographer sent me the referral, and I had a chance to chat with the bride, I knew I wanted to be there! And was so happy when she wanted me there, too!

The bride told me about herself, her husband, who was a fisherman (hence all the fun nautical details, like the cake!), and her two lovely kiddos. She told me about where the wedding would take place: At a private waterfront home, just steps from where she grew up. She told me how she always loved the house, and the walk down its path to the beach. She also mentioned being a huge Wes Anderson fan, and that she felt like this house had some of the New England quirkiness she’s loved from some of his movies. She envisioned some images to evoke that. I loved that she really wanted an intimate wedding, with those they truly loved, in a place she loved as well.

When arriving at the house, I immediately saw how she was drawn to it. It was a beautiful sprawling seaside home, with gorgeously weathered wood, and a view of the water out back, with a path leading to the water. It was a foggy day, but you could see a few boats anchored, dotting the water.

Inside, the walls were covered with colorful tapestries, wallpaper, and so many windows, with ample views towards the water. I found her getting ready in an upstairs bedroom, looking out to the backyard. Her mother was there with her, and one could feel the love between them. The soft window light filled the room, and I used that light to take some beautiful portraits of her.

It was important to the bride that they had lots of photos of their kids interacting with them and their grandparents. It was not hard, as the little ones were loving being held, cuddled and danced with.

The ceremony location allowed for views of the water, and allowed the ability to have the house as a backdrop, also.

After the ceremony, we headed towards the water line. The sprawling lawn made for a stunning location for formals, and one of my favorite photos this year, with the couple hand in hand, walking towards the water.

They had an amazing catering company, that prepared a stunning meal in the home’s beautiful kitchen, and served the guests between the house’s dining room and a sunroom. It was lovely!

I had an amazing time with this couple, and their families. Her mom was easily one of my favorite mothers-of-the-bride ever!

Thanks again for having me, you two! Enjoy some favorites from the day, and the slideshow at the end.
